F.A.Q. (Frequently Asked Questions) What is ICON's purpose? Our mission is to PROMOTE art, music, film and social awareness by serving as a resource for independent musicians, filmmakers, art and entertainment industry professionals. Material we seek to cover include: gallery openings, new music releases and band updates, festival information, industry workshops, new venues for performers and artists and special events.
Who/what do you promote? Specifically, independent artists in various formats from sculptors to traveling musicians, directors, actors, talent scouts and promoters, fashion designers and professionals in music, film, fashion and art. ICON serves as a referral network and promotions vehicle dedicated to meet the needs of the arts and entertainment industry.
How do I submit material for Featured Artist/Band consideration?
We prefer unsolicited material, however if you are an independent artist without representation, send us an e-mail and we can figure something out.
NOTE:
You must be the owner of your material.
Your material must be original and have overall good production.
Your material must be free of imperfections. (i.e. hissing, background noise, etc.)
We are currently seeking submissions in the various genres including rock and electronic. Of course, we are looking for something original and are definitely not limited to these two categories. Musicians without representation are welcome to submit their work for consideration.
Please be patient as we receive many submissions from around the world. We will review all submissions as soon as we possibly can.
If your music is chosen, we will notify you via e-mail. Also, we will include a link to your site, music, etc.
What must I submit for your Art section? Preferably a bio on the artist you are exhibiting, location of your gallery, opening reception information, contact info and an image from the exhibit currently showing. While most of our art information is dedicated mostly to Houston, we are open to featuring artists outside of the city and the Lone Star state.
What must I submit for your Film section? Send us cast information, showtime information, a trailer, bio on the director and a synopsis of your film. If your film is showing at a festival, that would be great information for us too.
Why can't I find the content I need?ICON is always looking for to satisfy the needs of our readers. We are working diligently to make the site easier to navigate, but we're in the business of promotion, not web design as we're Indie too! If you are seeking tear sheet info or web link info for your works featured on our site, shoot us an email and we will gladly send you the link. When do you update the website?
Unless we experience technical difficulties or other unforeseen circumstances, the website is updated Sundays and Thursdays.
